Validation Back on Track, Value Recovered
A physician-owned laboratory · Chemistry validation
THE SITUATION
A physician-owned laboratory was preparing to open when seven analytes would not perform during validation. The problems traced back to how the equipment was installed and validated, and one issue turned out to be an error from the original equipment setup by the manufacturer. By the time nuCARE was brought in to review what had gone wrong, the issues had already pushed back the laboratory’s planned opening.
WHAT NUCARE DID
nuCARE’s team reviewed the issues and immediately stepped in to support troubleshooting. Working alongside the laboratory and the vendors, the team quickly helped identify the root causes. nuCARE’s team then escalated directly to the equipment and reagent vendors and pushed both to commit the technical resources needed to finish validation. Recognizing how much time the laboratory had lost, nuCARE also negotiated compensation for the delay on the client’s behalf.
THE OUTCOME
The technical issues were resolved and validation moved forward toward opening. The laboratory received an $11,000 credit toward validation reagents. That covered more than 60% of its reagent cost, even though the reagent-related issue accounted for only about 5% of the total cost. The client recovered meaningful value from the setback and got back on track to begin serving patients. Without nuCARE’s relationships with the vendors, or purchasing power, the credit nor the solution would have been realized in a meaningful way.
