Launch Kept On Track

A new laboratory in New England · Molecular PCR

THE SITUATION

A new laboratory was preparing to launch when its Laboratory Manager unexpectedly resigned. The plan had been for the manager to lead the final stages of the project with remote support from nuCARE. Without that person, the entire go-live was in jeopardy. That included equipment installation, candidate screening for the replacement, PCR validation support and scheduling, and final workflow design and implementation. Any one of these slipping would have pushed back the date the laboratory could begin serving patients.

WHAT NUCARE DID

Rather than let progress stop, nuCARE’s team traveled to the laboratory and spent three weeks on site. The team supported every part of the project: equipment installation, candidate screening for the Laboratory Manager role, PCR validation support and scheduling, and final workflow design and implementation. Every workstream kept moving while the laboratory searched for a replacement.

THE OUTCOME

Because nuCARE’s team was on site, the go-live stayed on track without delays. Before the replacement Laboratory Manager arrived, the equipment was installed, candidates were screened, PCR validations were scheduled and completed with nuCARE’s support, and the final workflow was designed and implemented. The laboratory avoided restarting any of this work later. It limited the cost of the leadership gap, kept its path to revenue, preserved the progress it had made, and was ready to begin testing for patients as planned.
